It was a privilege to participate in the Final Restitution of the Collective Action Against Period Poverty Project (CAAPP), held on 2 June 2026 at Jetwing Colombo Seven.

Funded by the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka and the Maldives and coordinated by the Family Planning Association of Sri Lanka (FPASL), the CAAPP initiative has been a remarkable effort to address period poverty, strengthen menstrual health management, and advance gender equality across Sri Lanka.
The event provided an opportunity to share the findings of the independent evaluation conducted by Survey Research Lanka (SRL) and engage in meaningful discussions on sustainable solutions to menstrual poverty in Sri Lanka.

As researchers, it was rewarding to witness how evidence, community engagement, advocacy, arts, and education came together to create positive social change. The stories, partnerships, and lessons emerging from this project reaffirm the importance of collective action in breaking stigma and ensuring that no girl or woman is held back because of her period.
My sincere appreciation to the Embassy of France, FPASL, partner organizations, community leaders, educators, and all participants whose dedication made this initiative possible.

Together, we continue the conversation toward a future where menstrual health and dignity are accessible to all.
